I saw a bunch of ads for this movie and that's what made me want to watch it. But I wanted to watch it because I thought the ads looked stupid and expected this movie to be really bad. I was SO surprised when it actually ended up being amazing. It has practically age appropriate actors and most of the dialogue/ plot was really realistic. There were moments where they tried to be modern and use popular lingo but it was stupid and I hated it. But it didn't ruin anything for me because everything else was so good. For being so young Jena Ortega is insanely good at portray such intense emotions. This is a movie about a school shooting and how people my age deal with the aftermath and it all feels so real. The actual shooting scene was crazy. You didn't see anything but you could hear the gunshots and see these two characters who were stuck in a bathroom right outside where it was happening. I feel like it most movies a scene like this would be short or there would be techniques that make it easier to watch. But this was long and scary and (I know I keep using this word) real. It made me cry it was so intense. I wish my other document stayed because I talked much more about the scene and how perfectly relatable her reaction and healing process was. By the end Veda, the main character, finally admitted that she was having a really hard time dealing with this and said that she wasn't healed and I love that ending. There was so resolution and some people might think it is bad for the story but in real life you probably won't ever recover from something like this. I can't wait to talk about this is class cause I have so much to say, I loved this movie. Watch it if you wanna cry and be angry about American's gun control.

This movie has a special place in my heart. I love it way more than I would like to admit and find it unnecessarily impressive. Watching this movie when I younger I focused mostly on the story like (obviously) But now watching it I enjoy the plot but I also wonder about their filming techniques. Like they must have had to work hard to get some unique shots of the puppets and not make it look like they're being controlled by people. I enjoy the music so much. Who ever wrote the sound track for this treated it like they were scoring a blockbuster movie. Honestly this might be one of the few movies I consider to be perfect. Upon rewatching I re-fell in love with the characters and want to dive into some of the older, more original movies. Cause yes this is good, but I want to know what the very first muppets were like and compare them to the ones now. This will hopefully turn into a series of Muppet movies.
I really really wanted to like this movie but sadly I didn't. I never looked up the plot but I have seen clips of it and it looked like it would have been right up my alley. I thought it was very pretty and I liked how in the hotel even thought there was only bright fun colors like pink, purple, and blue it still felt dreary and kind of gross. The scene that sicks out to me the most is the bath scene with the old owner guy and Gustave. I really liked the guy who played zero. Something about his movements and facial expressions felt cartoonish in a way. The beginning was admittedly boring. And then when the plot did pick it it was almost like I didn't care for it. It was another one of those movies that felt like they were trying to make it weird without a motive so it came across as random weird apposed to purposeful. Im trying to get back into movies with substance because it seems like I've been stuck in a children movie loop for a while now... and I'm not sure this was the best one to begin with.
I was super excited for this movie because I saw lots of clips of it before I got the change to watch it. I had heard the songs and was a tiny but doubtful because I didn't love them. One thing I wished I changed was I wish I didn't watch it with friends. I think my opinions might have been different if I were by myself. I loved the plot. I thought it was super cute and creative and I spent half the movie thinking about what Mirabel not having powers was symbolic of. I think the dialogue and characters were all adorable and I found something intriguing about how the people were drawn. Obviously they didn't actually look like real people but something about the features felt familiar. I hate to admit it because I love a good musical but I didn't like the music. I guess the characters had 'unique' voices but I just didn't like them. I liked the actual instruments but it as soon as they added words it felt dumb to me. Part of me thinks this thought is clouded by the thougts of the people I watched it with. So I theres a chance I might give it another try and dig deeper into the music. But for now I can say that it wasn't my favorite part at all. This might be the one thing I say would be better as not a musical. Overall it was fun to watch. I didn't like that Mirabel didn't get actual powers though. I guess her power is not having power and keeping the family around but I wish she had a physical power, I think that would have made the ending better.
I LOOOOVED this movie. It felt like a throw back to the good old classic marvel. Don't get me wrong I love the new era but you have to admit it's a lot of complicated stuff (especially revolving around time and reality) and it's nice to have a simple origin story for a superhero. Not to mention Shang-Chi is incredibly likable. I really liked Awkwafina in this movie, I think she is absolutely hilarious and provided a relatable character you could follow throughout the film. The costuming was so good for this one, that's one thing Marvel never fails to go all out on. The moment I knew I was gonna like this movie was the train fight scene. It was so intense and a great way to introduce a new character. I liked how he already kind of had his abilities and didn't have to build up to them. That's a popular theme in origin stories so it made this choice feel even more powerful. This isn't my new favorite movie but it's defiantly taking place up right up next to it.
I have seen Dr. Strange so many times before but each time I watch it it's like seeing it for the first time again. It had been a relatively long time since I last saw it so I forgot a decent amount of the details. I will never get over the beginning part of that movie where Stephen is first recovering from the car crash, it's one of my favorite plot lines in the whole Marvel series. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors but I never imagined him as a superhero. This role feels out of his comfort zone, at least to me, which made his performance even more impressive. The character Stephen Strange is so incredibly full of himself but goes though this massive growth process. I think he made a lot of progress but at the end he is still pretty selfish. The visuals and special effects are insane! I like the way they chose to display when they were entering the fake reality by making it look like a glass breaking. Rewatching this movie makes me soooo beyond excited for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of madness. I think next Wanda Maximof and Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange might be one of my favorite superhero's. I love this movie and can watch it over and over again and still find something new to appreciate.
I have seen the plane seen from this movie sooo many times but never watched anything other than that. Now that I finally found time I decided to watch this movie all the way through. I watched it with my mom so it was automatically a fun time. I really liked this movie, it was made back when Rebel Wilson was still funny. Usually I hate movies where things just keep going wrong but this is one of the few movies that is an exception to that. I think this movie is on the same level as hangover which I also loved. I think the casting for this was perfect and all the actors played the characters perfectly. I like movies that are mostly funny but still have serious undertones. This was I think you can keep the audience on their toes with jokes but still pulled it with the plot. For it having so many random things that went wrong there was still a cohesive plot of getting married. The humor is less clever and more stupid but made me laugh none the less. One of my favorite scenes is when the two girls were giving a speech at the engagement party. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who likes hangover because it's basically the girl version of that movie, maybe a little less inappropriate. This was a good movie for this week.
The Man Who Knew Too Much is one of the first older films I have watched, the 3rd Hitchcock film to be exact. After Vertigo and Strangers on a Train, I was pretty much sold on Hitchcock. I liked the familiar feeling of his films; they are easy to watch and always entertaining. There’s something about old movies that feels cozy to me, making me want to watch them more frequently. I also have a problem with enjoying something that I’ve been assigned for school, so I had very mixed feelings about this movie at first. When I put it on, I was a little thrown off by the setting in Morocco when I’m used to seeing his films in America. However, it was nice to see the familiar face of actor James Stewart who had played John Furgeson in Vertigo, and now Dr. Benjamin McKenna in The Man Who Knew Too Much. Also, I wasn’t shocked to see another beautiful blond woman in as the leading lady. But as for the beginning, I wasn’t very impressed. I think it was a tad slow and hard to invest in. Even at the first plot twist (when Bernard tells McKenna of the assassination plans right before he dies), I was having trouble finding this enjoyable. But there is a particular moment in which I switched my opinion on this film altogether. It wasn’t the actual turning point of the movie, but it was the turning point for me. It was when McKenna and Jo found out that Hank was missing. Doris Day, the actress who plays Jo, gave such a painful and realistic performance that it gave me chills. The cries she gave out in condolences for her missing son were heartbreaking. This was the moment I realized I was going to like this movie solely based on that performance. And I was right, from that moment on I fell in love with this movie.
The plot was well developed; so many little details made the story, such as Jo and McKenna thinking of different Chapels. It always surprises me when older movies are really similar to today, and this movie heavily reminds me of your typical action movie. There’s always something in Hitchcock movies that I can count on to make me laugh, and that’s scenes when people get hurt. They did this in Vertigo and Strangers on a Train; it goes from a brilliantly filmed, intense scene to a really cheesy and funny moment when the actor gets hurt. It’s not meant to be commercial, which makes it even funnier. Around the hour and a half mark, I was getting tired of sitting and watching a movie; I was prepared to mentally check out and just get started on the project. However, the film didn’t allow me one second of rest. The last half an hour was so intense and unique, and it’s one of my new favorite movie endings. Overall, I ended really liking this movie and was glad I watched it. These Hitchcock movies keep inspiring me to watch more. This weekend I was attempting to begin getting in the halloween spirit. I'm not sure why but I've been really in the mood for funny things lately so that has been motivating a lot of my movie choices. I've seen the first movie of this series but skipped the 2nd before I watched this one. This movie so perfectly sums up the typically cheesy scary movie plots. There's so many small details that make the movie as funny as it is. My favorite scene that I kept rewinding and watching over again was he one where the sherif's hat gets bigger in every scene. I'm not sure why that stood out to me as much as it did but it's the part I laughed the hardest at. I like the fact that they use the same actors in every movie because it lets me get comfortable with them and I can spend more time enjoying the plot and less time waiting for the characters to grow on me. I think it's really fun to watch this movie and try and pick out which horror movies the stereotypes were taken from. I'm pretty sure sometime this week I'm going to find time to watch Scary Movie 2.
I watched this movie with my mom and my brother when we were looking for something light hearted and funny. This movie was hilarious. I plot was easy to follow and there were so many moments I was laughing really hard. Jason Sudeikis did a really good job playing both a deadbeat drug dealer and a family guy. And I really like Will Pouleter because he's in another show I watch. He is black mirror the Bandersnatch episode which is pretty serious and it was weird to see him playing a comedic character. This is one of my new favorite funny movies. I think I'll have to wait a little time so I can forget details but I can definitely see myself watching this again when I need a laugh.
